UTICA, N.Y. --- Utica Police are investigating a string of robberies taking place in a few West Utica neighborhoods. The police department saying the larcenies were from cars.

Some of the items stolen from the cars include a Remington 12 gauge shotgun, iPhones, iPad, wallets, loose change, credit cards, purse and book bags.

Some of the neighborhoods that were victimized include Winner Avenue, Oak Street, Schuyler Street, Noyes Street, and Oswego Street.

NEWSChannel 2 obtained security footage of three individuals walking up and down a driveway in the middle of the night. Utica Police also have video of three individuals but it isn't confirmed if its the same.

Neighbors in the areas affected reacting to the news, some more concerned than others. West Utica resident Scott Porier lives on Winner Ave where one of the larcenies took place. He said his street is usually quiet.

"I know things in this part of my neighborhood are quiet and all my neighbors to look out for each other," said Porier.

He has two security cameras installed on the front and back of his home in case any thieves stop by. Scott said he was concerned about the stolen shotgun.

"Oh, it's really scary. I don't know how they got a hold of a 12 gauge shotgun.I think people are to keep things like that locked up if they own weapons like that," said Porier.

Jordan Nichols lives on Oak Street and said he wasn't a victim of the most recent robberies, but it did happen to him in the past. He said thieves went through his car.

"I don't know why people would just take the change from the car.  I had other devices including a laptop for work and they didn't touch that either," said Nichols.

Police are encouraging all, no matter where you live to lock your house and car doors and be vigilant. They also request if anyone has any security cam footage showing suspicious activity in the areas affected to turn them over to police.

The security camera footage obtained through this story has been turned over to police.
