Utica Police investigate a shooting on Rutger Street

UPDATE- One woman was shot at a remembrance ceremony for Quaheim Holland, who was found dead in a car in Whitestown last week.

Utica Police say they responded to the 300 block of Rutger Street around 6:45 p.m. on Monday. When they arrived, they found numerous shell casings and saw people leaving the vigil.

Police say at that time, no victims were located.

At approximately 8:45 p.m. a local hospital contacted 911 saying a female had just arrived with a gunshot wound.

Police say they went to the hopital and spoke with the victim who stated that while she was at the vigil, gunshots were fired and she was struck in the hand.

The victim told police she wasn't sure if anyone else was struck.

UTICA, N.Y. -- Utica Police confirm they are investigating a shots fired incident on Rutger Street Monday night.

The call came in just before 7 p.m. for shots fired on the 300 block of Rutger Street. Police tell NEWSChannel 2 one person was injured.

No other information is available at this time. NEWSChannel 2 is in contact with UPD and will have an update as soon as it becomes available.
