UTICA, N.Y. – Utica police are investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital for emergency surgery Tuesday night.
Authorities were called to the 300 block of Mary Street around 10 p.m., but before arriving to the scene, officers learned that the victim was already on his way to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his midsection.
Utica Fire Department stopped the car en route, and immediately started treating the man before taking him to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he was rushed to surgery.
Police were not able to interview the victim at the time due to his condition, however, they did find several 9mm casings at the scene.
