VERNON, N.Y. – The Utica-Rome Speedway is up for sale, according to a Facebook post made Tuesday on the track’s page.
The half-mile track is normally used for DIRTcar and motocross races, but had to cancel events and modify racing rules over the past year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Racing started again in June of 2020, following state health guidelines including mask requirements, but fans weren’t allowed as part of the health department pandemic restrictions.
In early July, they had to put a pause on scheduled racing events, and resumed on July 24 with a round of USMX motocross.
According to the website, the last event held there was an open practice in September.
The owners are selling the track, the 100 acres of land it sits on and all of the equipment.
The Utica-Rome Speedway is located at 5591 Route 5 in Vernon.
