UTICA, N.Y- The Utica Zoo started off their Easter celebration a little early this year. The parking lot was filled as local residents made their way up to the zoo for the Eggstravaganza.
Zoo officials hid Easter eggs throughout the zoo for kids and their families to go and find.
Once an egg was found, they could trade it in for a piece of candy.
The Easter bunny was also making his way around the zoo and also available for pictures.
Zoo officials also held learning sessions throughout the zoo about the animals that do lay eggs.
"One of these things that do set us apart is that we have all of these animals that do lay the eggs. So we are able to educate at the same time as having fun. So its definitely fun that matters when you are contributing to a cause as well," said Nikki Sheehan.
The event at the zoo lasted from 10 am to 3 pm.
