UTICA, N.Y. - The 4th annual May Day Festival was held in Utica on Wednesday.
The celebration is to highlight worker/human rights and unity.
It is celebrated each spring on May 1st in over 66 countries around the world.
The group called Citizen Actions of New York organizes this event to bring people together and call attention to the struggles and achievements of the workers in the united states.
"Many of the great benefits we enjoy in this country is a result of the sacrifices made by workers back decades ago so this is a holiday which is used to celebrate the achievements that ordinary people fought for to gain workers rights," John Furman, from Citizen Action said.
The event was held at the DeSales Center in downtown Utica and featured food, dancing, live music, and guest speakers.
