UTICA, N.Y. -- The city of Utica pools open July 1 for the summer.
New this year, is an intergenerational swim program. It's for adults 50 and over to get to the pool and use the city recreational facilities.
The adult swim program will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Seymour Pool in North Utica.
It's a collaboration between the office for the aging, the Oneida County livable communities project and the city.
“Swimming has proven to be a very therapeutic activity for older adults and also recreational,” said Parkway Center’s Kelly Walters.
“Oneida county made a commitment to the who and AARP to improve the livability in Oneida County for persons of all ages,” said Mike Romano, with the Office of the Aging.
Bringing an intergenerational swim program to the city of Utica is part of that commitment.
