UTICA, N.Y. – Utica’s Access and Inclusion Committee is inviting the public to a 'Solutions Summit' to discuss public safety and how to combat gun violence in the city.
The summit will take place on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. at the Parkway Rec Center.
“The Access and Inclusion Committee is committed to bringing people together to solve problems. We want to draw on the diverse voices and talents of our city and make sure that we come out with some viable ideas,” said Tony Colon, chairman of the committee.
Utica police and the district attorney’s office will talk about how gun violence has affected the area, and efforts the city has made to address the issue.
Attendees will then separate into groups to brainstorm solutions, and then present their ideas to the committee.
All members of the community are welcome to attend, including members of private and non-profit organizations.
