UTICA, N.Y. -- Utica fire crews battled a serious house fire on Jefferson Ave. on Monday evening.
Firefighters responded to the 900 block of Jefferson Ave. just after 9:30 p.m. Utica Fire Chief Scott Ingersoll tells NEWSChannel 2 the fire spread quickly through the first floor into the second floor.
He said there were two injuries, both were treated at the scene and refused transport to the hospital. A total of five people were accounted for and will be assisted by the Red Cross.
The chief says the house is uninhabitable at this time due to serious fire, heat and smoke damage throughout the home.
National Grid, Utica Police and the Red Cross assisted at the scene.
