UTICA, N.Y. -- Three rooms were destroyed following a fire at the Red Roof Inn on Weaver Street Friday night.
911 calls came in just after 8:30 p.m. According to Utica Fire Chief Scott Ingersoll, when firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from a corner room of the main buidling.
"Our firefighters arrived in about two minutes they were able to get tank water off the engine." Ingersoll said. "They got water on the fire quickly which is really the key to staying ahead of these fires."
The Chief says three rooms are not liveable at this time. Just one person was treated for minor smoke inhalation.
The cause is under investigation.
