UTICA, N.Y. – The city of Utica was awarded $10 million to allocate as part of the state’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative, and the Downtown Community Forum will meet Tuesday night to further discuss how to utilize these funds.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo stopped by the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute on Nov. 12 to announce that Utica had been chosen to receive the DRI grant.
In the proposal, Utica officials outlined some project plans to revitalize the downtown area, including developing a new road design, creating green spaces and renovating historic or vacant buildings.
Utica will soon begin developing a strategic investment plan using up to $300,000 in planning funds from the grant.
The DRI forum meeting will be held Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at the Veterans Outreach Center, 726 Washington St., Utica.
