UTICA, N.Y. -- A Utica man was arrested at Union Station Tuesday for trespassing and resisting arrest after he allegedly jumped on a moving train.
Around 12:50 p.m. train staff informed special police officers (SPOs) that John Whitehead, 32, was trespassing on a train.
Authorities say Whitehead had jumped onto the train while it was moving, and the staff had to stop the train.
The SPOs attempted to get Whitehead off the train, but he refused. Police advised him that he was under arrest, and while attempting to take him into custody, he began to resist, and was taken to the ground and placed in handcuffs.
Whitehead suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention.
Deputies were assisted by Utica Police Department. Whitehead was taken to the Oneida County jail to be held for pre-arraignment.
No SPOs were injured during the incident.
