UTICA, N.Y. – A Utica man is facing drug and weapons charges after police responded to a menacing call in East Utica Wednesday night.
Officers were called to the area of Mary and Bacon streets around 9:30 p.m., after someone reported a man in a red sedan pointing a handgun at another person during an argument.
Police stopped the suspected vehicle on Jefferson Avenue near Bleecker Street. Officers say they saw a handgun in the back seat, and the driver and passenger were taken into custody.
While at the police station, officers allegedly found suspected crack-cocaine on one of the suspects, 37-year-old Donald Freeman.
Freeman was charged with the following:
- Second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Third- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
