NEWPORT, N.Y. – A Utica man was ticketed after he was airlifted to the hospital following a crash in Newport Wednesday afternoon.
New York State Police say 68-year-old Michael F. Graham, of Utica, was driving his 2008 Chevrolet Corvette convertible southbound on Hawthorne Road around 2 p.m., when he failed to yield the right of way while entering the intersection with Summit Road. Graham crashed into a 2016 Mazda, driven by 51-year-old Lisa M. Sperbeck, of Frankfort, and both vehicles spun off and hit an embankment.
Graham was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse via Mercy Flight after suffering a head injury.
Sperbeck was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center to be treated for left knee pain.
