WESTMORELAND, N.Y. -- Officials with Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse confirm 72-year-old Jack Pylman, of Utica, has died.
Pylman was admitted to the hospital the evening of Monday, June 21, with severe burns to his face and upper torso.
Police say his pickup truck went off the road on Route 5 in Westmoreland, between Route 233 and Norton Ave., and struck a utility pole.
Witnesses at the scene said the truck rolled over and caught fire with Pylman still inside.
Two bystanders pulled him from the burning truck, as ambulance personnel rushed him to the hospital burn unit.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help his family cover medical bills and funeral costs. A goal of $10,000 has been set.
According to the post, Pylman suffered third-degree burns on 25% of his body.
Officials with Upstate Medical Center say he was in critical condition for a week.
