UTICA, N.Y. – A Utica mother was arrested after police say her 5-year-old son fell from the third story of a home when she left him on a balcony unsupervised.
The incident happened at 1506 Catherine St. in July.
Police say the child was taken to the hospital to be treated for a broken jaw and other injuries, after he climbed the balcony railing and fell three stories to the ground.
After an investigation, the child’s mother, 28-year-old Krista Redinger, was arrested on Sept. 23 and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Redinger was processed at the Utica Police Department, issued an appearance ticket and released.
She is scheduled to appear in court in mid-October.
The Child Advocacy Center has requested an order of protection against Redinger on behalf of the child.
