Utica police ID teen killed in Elizabeth Street shooting

The Utica Police Department has identified the teen who was shot to death on Elizabeth Street Sunday night.

UTICA – The Utica Police Department has identified the teen who was shot to death on Elizabeth Street Sunday night.

Police say the victim was 17-year-old Stefan Medina.

Around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Utica police were called to the 700 block of Elizabeth Street near Hubbell Street for a report of shots fired with a person injured. When officers arrived on scene, they found Medina with gunshot wounds.

Medina was was treated at the scene by the Utica Fire Department and then transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police say this is the seventh homicide in the city of Utica this year. In comparison, there were three homicides in the city of Utica in all of 2017.
