UTICA, N.Y. – A man who was on parole is facing multiple weapons charges after he allegedly admitted to possessing a .22 caliber handgun.
Parole officers started investigating Angel Torres, 21, on Wednesday, and contacted Utica police after finding the gun.
Torres was charged with the following:
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (previous conviction)
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (defaced handgun)
- Criminal possession of a firearm
According to Utica police, this arrest was part of a multi-agency effort to curb gun violence in the area.
