UTICA -- Utica Police are investigating recent threats made to Utica's planning board.
Those threats were made on Facebook, shortly after a board meeting, where the downtown hospital came into play.
Chief Mark Williams says his team spoke with the person behind the Facebook post. He says that individual may not actually be a threat.
Williams says the person who made the post is in poor health and that his team doesn't feel he would carry out a threat.
Police say they are taking precautions to make sure board members are safe.
"You can't take any threat lightly," Williams said. "We just saw what happened in Florida. The accusations against the FBI, not following through with that one threat. I don't care if it's on social media or made in person, you have to follow through with any threat and make sure it's not legitimate."
Williams says he reached out to board members after the threat was made. He says he wanted to make sure they knew about the threat and that it was being investigated.
The investigation is ongoing. Williams says he will meet with the district attorney's office to see if an offense was committed.
