UTICA, N.Y. – Four people were arrested during a traffic stop in Utica Wednesday night, including a woman who police say was carrying a loaded handgun in her bag.
The Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) team stopped a vehicle at Oriskany Street and Barnes Avenue around 10:20 p.m.
Officers say the driver, 27-year-old Hexadore Randall, was driving with a suspended license.
Police also found that two of the passengers in the vehicle had outstanding warrants from Utica Police Department. Katasha Bradley, 19, was arrested on two petit larceny warrants, and 24-year-old Janay Hymes was also taken into custody on a disorderly conduct warrant.
During the traffic stop, the third passenger in the vehicle, 41-year-old Jessica Reed, told police she had a loaded gun in her bag. Officers found the .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, and arrested Reed.
She was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Randall is facing several vehicle and traffic violations.
