UTICA, N.Y. – A local puppy from the House of Paws in Utica will compete in the national Puppy Bowl next month.
Minnie is playing for Team Fluff, and will face off against other puppies from Team Ruff. There are 70 dogs competing from 22 different shelters.
Jennifer Vohwinkel, who owns House of Paws, says Minnie is recovering after being hospitalized.
“She had tapeworms really bad and she had pneumonia. So, she spent two weeks in the hospital. And when she got out of the hospital, it was still a long road to recovery,” said Vohwinkel. “And after that, we got an email and asked if we had any puppies for the Puppy Bowl and I thought she would be a great candidate.”
Most of the puppies who compete are up for adoption, but Minnie has found her forever home with Vohwinkel.
The Puppy Bowl is a three-hour event, and will air on Discovery+ and Animal Planet on Feb. 7 at 2 p.m.
