MARCY, N.Y. – A Utica man was arrested early Friday morning after crashing the taxi van he was driving – with a passenger inside – while allegedly driving under the influence of drugs.
Oneida County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Paul Becker Road in the town of Marcy around 1:30 a.m., after receiving reports of a vehicle into trees off of the road.
Deputies say 57-year-old Andrew J. Milone was driving a CNY Taxi westbound when he failed to stop at a stop sign, and crashed into several trees.
The rear passenger in the taxi, 26-year-old Jessica Colon, was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center to be treated for injuries deputies say were not life-threatening.
A deputy from the DWI Enforcement Unit was also called to the scene to conduct sobriety tests on Milone, who was ultimately charged with driving while ability impaired (DWAI) by drugs. He was also issued a ticket for failing to stop at the stop sign.
