UTICA, NY - A Utica teen was arrested Tuesday after police say he was responsible for the recent vandalism of the city's Christopher Columbus statue.
Utica Police say they have arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with the incidents, which happened on the Memorial Parkway on September 28 and October 7. The word “killer” was found written in red spraypaint on the morning of September 29, and a reward was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the vandalism.
No word if the reward was of any help with the investigation, but police say they want to thank the public for their assistance with the case.
Police say due to the suspect’s age, his name and the charges against him will not be made public. However, a surveillance photo of the suspect - which is included in this article - was posted to the Utica Police Department's Facebook page.
