UTICA - The Utica Fire Department's ambulance service ranks among the busiest in the nation.
The department shared a post ranking the busiest rescues in the country on its Facebook page earlier this week. The list shows the top two ambulance services are in Philadelphia and Chicago, #10 goes to Miami-Dade County, Florida, followed by Houston, Texas and then Utica at #12.
Assistant Fire Chief James Noon agrees Rescue One is one of the busiest in the country, but is always ready.
"Unfortunately we're needed when other people are having a bad day. That number of runs - it's bad for other people, but we're able to get it done. We're proud of our guys, certainly, for doing that many calls. Pretty impressive," said Noon.
Here's the original Facebook post from Engine 25 Medic 8 in Philadelphia. Utica is listed at #12 at the very bottom of the post.
