UTICA, N.Y. – New York State expanded vaccine eligibility to those 65 and older Tuesday, adding millions to the population of people looking to schedule an appointment.

Oneida County and Mohawk Valley Health System both say due to the rise in demand, they are fully booked through at least Jan. 15. But, MVHS says all of their doses were used by Jan. 12.

NEWSChannel 2 viewers have also reached out saying they were notified that appointments Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday would be canceled.

Read the full MVHS statement below:

“MVHS, along with other area hospitals, has used its current allotment of vaccines. We know that our community members are eagerly awaiting appointments for the COVID-19 vaccination. In the Mohawk Valley region, which includes Oneida, Otsego, Herkimer, Montgomery, Fulton, and Schoharie Counties, we are waiting for the delivery of more vaccines to administer to our communities.

“It is difficult to schedule appointments without knowing when vaccines will arrive. We’re asking our community members to be patient with the new and evolving vaccination process. If you have questions or would like further information, please call the State vaccination hotline at 1-833-697-4829. We remain committed to keeping our community informed through regular updates.”

Oneida County set up a vaccination site at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, while MVHS has two locations, one at St. Elizabeth’s and one at St. Luke’s.

It is unclear when MVHS will receive more doses and resume vaccination appointments.

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente is asking people to be patient.

“With today’s announcement that eligibility has been expanded to those 65 and older, the demand for the vaccine is higher than ever and we have a limited supply available from New York State,” said Picente. “We will continue to deliver every dose in our possession to our residents as quickly and efficiently as possible as we await further shipments. I urge patience as we move through this process together.”

The links to schedule an appointment online can be found here, but you may not be able to reserve a spot until next week unless there is a cancellation.
