UTICA, NY – Despite the cancellation of this year’s St. Patrick’s Day parade in Utica, things were still hopping on Varick Street Saturday.
Although not as much as in years past.
The coronavirus did not stop the Irish, or the Irish at heart, from celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.
Everywhere you looked on Varick Street, people dressed in green were having a good time.
There was plenty of Irish food and drink, not to mention music and dancing.
Gavin Bailey, brought his guitar to perform for passersby.
“It’s still pretty busy today, but you can see the difference. After all the cancellations and closings, just like panic in general, it has had an effect on the event.”
As always, members of the Utica police department were on hand to make sure everyone had a safe and happy, St. Patrick’s Day.
