VERNON, N.Y. – According to its website, Vernon Downs Hotel and Casino will be reopening on Wednesday, after closing in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Last week, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said non-tribal casinos could reopen at 25% capacity starting Sept. 9, as long as they follow the new health and safety guidelines set by the state.
Casinos are now required to make masks mandatory, put barriers between slot machines and enhance cleaning procedures, among other rules. Cuomo says the New York State Gaming Commission will be monitoring compliance with the new guidelines.
The website says Vernon Downs will be open from 4 p.m. to midnight on Wednesday, and then 9 a.m. to midnight Sundays through Thursdays moving forward. On Fridays and Saturdays, the casino will be open 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.
