Vernon man accused of downloading child porn on unsecured Wi-Fi

State police have arrested a Vernon man for allegedly downloading child pornography to his computer and cell phone.

VERNON, N.Y. – State police have arrested a Vernon man for allegedly downloading child pornography to his computer and cell phone.

Chad A. Srogi, 36, of Vernon, has been charged with two counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a D felony.

Police say Srogi used an unsecured, residential Wi-Fi access point to download and upload images and videos of child porn from the internet.

Srogi was transported to the Oneida County Jail for centralized arraignment.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which includes members of the New York State Police, Homeland Security Investigations and the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.
