COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – A new mural was debuted in downtown Cooperstown Wednesday, featuring the work of a New York City artist.
Brooklyn muralist, Angel Garcia, and his partner, Nadia, painted the public mural, which is now on display in Pioneer Park.
The mural was inspired by artist Keith Haring, whose exhibit is on display at Fenimore Art Museum. Garcia used bright colors to weave together the culture and history of Cooperstown.
“Keith Haring had a personal mission to share art with the public at any and all times that he could, and so we thought it was really appropriate to celebrate this exhibition to commission a muralists to paint a mural in downtown Cooperstown to share with all the people that come to the village,” said Paul D’Ambrosio, president of Fenimore Art Museum.
The mural will become part of Fenimore’s permanent collection in September after Haring’s exhibit closes.
