UTICA, N.Y. – Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute is opening its annual Victorian Yuletide exhibit on Friday, with a literary theme this year.
A Little Women Christmas was inspired by Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women,” written in 1868.
The library, parlor and dining room of Fountain Elms will be decorated in the spirit of Christmas during the mid-19th century.
“This year we're going more for a simplified homespun look, so we're relying on greenery, and ribbons, and gingham. Those, sort of, more simplified decorations are more indicative of a simpler time and making due with what you have,” said Gabrielle Kinney, decorate arts assistant.
Fountain Elms is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1 - 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The exhibit will be open through Dec. 29.
