VIENNA, NY – According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, sheriff's deputies responded to Elpis Road in the Town of Vienna for a reported domestic involving a firearm.
When they arrived they were advised that 69-year-old Malcolm Tilton had been involved in a domestic dispute with his wife, and following that dispute, had shot and killed the family’s dog. Tilton was taken into custody.
From statements Tilton made he was sent to the hospital for a mental health evaluation. He was arrested for animal cruelty and released to hospital staff with an appearance ticket.
Tilton is to appear in the Town of Vienna Court at a later date. Tilton's wife was not injured during the incident.
