COOPERSTOWN, NY – The Cooperstown Village Board held a public hearing Monday regarding the construction of a proposed parking that would be used by Bassett Hospital.
The proposed lot would be located at the intersection of Susquehanna Avenue and Walnut Street.
In order to accommodate the lot 3 houses on Riverside Drive will need to be demolished, but the hospital already owns those properties.
Many of those who spoke at the hearing acknowledged the need for additional parking.
Especially for the patients.
“The new lot we’re building will be used for employees,” says Jonathan Flyte, Network Vice President for Bassett Medical Center.
“That will allow the employees to leave a lot that is adjacent to the hospital and give that lot to the hospital for patients to use.”
No decision on the proposal was made by the board at the meeting. A decision is expected to come sometime in February.
Hospital officials say they would like to have everything completed by Hall of Fame induction weekend.
