ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A summer volunteer program at Rome Memorial Hospital that provides youths ages 15 to 20, an opportunity to earn hours toward their high school community service requirements or gain insight into the health care field.

Applications are now available online. Just click "volunteers."

Applications are due Friday, May 17.

VolunTeens will work as hospital ambassadors, including greeting visitors, interacting with nursing home residents, manning the hospitality cart and assisting the staff.

There will also be opportunities for VolunTeens to attend classes related to healthcare topics and tour off-campus hospital services facilities.

The VolunTeens program will require participants to volunteer at the hospital four hours each week during eight weeks of summer vacation, from June 24 through Aug. 16, for a total of 32 volunteer hours.
