UTICA, N.Y. – Local political candidates met with the public at the Parkway Senior Center in Utica on Thursday morning.
About a dozen candidates attended the event, which gives residents an opportunity to ask questions or express concerns before deciding who will get their vote.
The Parkway Senior Center holds a ‘meet the candidate’ event each year, to allow candidates to interact with voters in an informal setting.
“The people get to ask real questions, and it's not in a format that is prescribed. People can have one-on-one conversations with the candidates. Maybe they're undecided, and talking to the candidates gives them a better idea of who they might vote for in November,” said Kelly Walters, executive director of the center.
Election Day is Nov. 5, but early voting polling locations are available in New Hartford, Rome and Utica.
