UTICA, N.Y. – WKTV NEWSChannel 2 will hold its annual Heart Telethon Thursday, to raise money from the American Heart Association.
The telethon will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Each year, WKTV teams up with America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk to gather donations ahead of the event. However, this year, the run will be held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to Tina Pavlot, Telethon chair, people can register now and fundraise over the next two months. Then on May 15, participants can walk or run on their own, and send in selfies and comments online.
“We anticipate having more people respond to that just because it is digital and you can do it from anywhere,” said Pavlot.
Special guests will appear on WKTV’s morning newscasts, and the telethon will air on CBS Utica from 4 to 5 p.m., and 7 to 8 p.m.
In 2020, $115,000 was raised through the telethon.
To call in and donate, call 866-374-9588 between 6:30 a.m. and 9 p.m.
