OLD FORGE, N.Y. – Enchanted Forest Water Safari has delayed reopening, after originally planning to welcome visitors on June 27.
In a post to Facebook, the statement says the park has not received official approval to reopen from the state.
Reservations have been suspended through July 5. Anyone who had reservations from June 27 through July 5 does not have to cancel, but will need to reschedule when the opening date is announced.
Vice President and Director of Marketing Katie Wojdyla said earlier this week that park was implementing many new safety measures to comply with state guidelines. This includes requiring face masks, other than on the slides or in the water, and putting up signs for social distancing.
Kelly Greene, President and Owner of Enchanted Forest Water Safari tells NEWSChannel 2 "it's very disappointing and frustrating" to only find out less than 48 hours before the set opening date to not be able to open.
"(Water Safari has) employees scheduled to come on Saturday, we have been working very hard to follow all the covid guidelines and put all of the safety measures in affect. We are really confident we have gotten it all right, and that it's safe for both guests and team members. It's very disappointing and frustrating to get to this point on Thursday night and not be able to open on Saturday." said Greene.
When a new date is chosen, the updated information will be available on the park's website and social media.
Phase 4 of reopening in the Mohawk Valley will begin Friday, which includes higher education, some indoor and outdoor entertainment and media production.
