OLD FORGE, N.Y. --- Enchanted Forest Water Safari in Old Forge is preparing to reopen its doors on Saturday, June 27th. There will be a few extra rules that greet park-goers at the gate.
Vice President and Director of Marketing for Water Safari, Katie Wojdyla said in order for people to enter the park, they will now need to have a reservation.
Wojdyla said this is all to limit the number of people entering the park. She said that reservations can be made starting Monday, June 22 at 10 am. You can also reserve by phone by calling 315-369-6145 if you are unable to access their website.
"We're going to require facemasks while entering the park. They just can't be worn while your going down the slides or if you're in the water because it's just not safe. We are working on training staff. Getting our new signage put up for social distancing. All of our line cues will be social distanced as well and we're just looking for people to cooperate so we can provide a safe experience for everyone," said Wojdyla.
Wojdyla said you don't have to wear your mask while with your group sitting down as long as they're socially distant from everyone else. In terms of the exact number of people the park is limited to, management said they are still waiting for state guidelines.
The park's new slides along with The Curse of the Silverback will not be open on day one because of pandemic related delays to construction.
"We did have to shut down for a couple of weeks during the pandemic and it has put us behind to reach our target of opening day. But we're hopeful that they're going to be able to be reopened for mid-July," said.
Wojdyla hopes people still come out to have fun, but respect the rules the park has in place.
"It's about people feeling safe and we've worked hard to create a safe environment for people to visit so we're hoping that the guests still come. Plan and make your reservations early because there is going to be a limit to the capacity," said Wojdyla.
