WATERVILLE, N.Y. – A Waterville home along Route 315 is on the verge of collapsing after a creek alongside the house flooded early Friday morning.
The Frye family calls the home Whiskey Forge, and say they bought the property to have a place to retire. Owner Deann Frye says she was devastated to find their home nearly washed out by the creek Friday morning, after hearing a rumbling around 3:30 a.m.
“My husband and I bought this, and made it our retirement home, this was our place where we were going to stay forever. And now it’s going to be gone,” said Frye.
Parts of land and trees behind the house have been washed away by Big Creek, the waterway that runs along the Fryes’ property.
Water from the creek is still flowing heavily along the house, the extensive damage may be irreparable.
