UTICA, N.Y. --- As New York continues to be "on pause", weddings have been put on hold as well. Many couples throughout the area are in limbo trying to reschedule a date.
The uncertainty has many wedding venues concerned. Breezes Banquet and Event Center owner Roxanne Roser was looking forward to a successful 2020. So far due to coronavirus, she said all of her upcoming events have been postponed.
"We had a full wedding season this year. Every weekend was booked. My first wedding was actually scheduled for April 25th," said Roser.
Roxanne said that because of this she currently has no income coming in. And with loans still on the property, she said continuing to pay that loan will be on her mind.
"My biggest hurdle is the loan to build the place, that is what my major investment is. I have a big loan payment for the renovation project of the building that I have to make sure I cover," said Roser.
The Yahnundasis Country Club is also feeling the stress. General Manager Sheila Post spoke with NEWSChannel 2 over the phone. She said one of the club's biggest challenges will likely be rescheduling weddings and other events.
"When you're a facility that is doing so many things and so many events, there are only so many weekends that you can cram these things into. And if you're going into September, October, and November, that's a very small window.
Both wedding venues are asking customers to be patient and flexible about rescheduling.
