UTICA, N.Y.- Three candidates running for government positions attended the West Utica candidate forum Wednesday night to answer questions from the residents of West Utica.
The forum was held at the Westside Community Center on Court Street.
The three candidates are:
-Mike Hennessy, running for Oneida County Executive
-David Herbowy, running for Utica Common Council, 2nd Ward
-Howard Welch, running for Oneida County Legislature, 21st District
Citizens were able to comment and submit questions for the candidates to answer, as well as have their voice heard.
Jim Zecca, the Coordinator for the West Utica Neighborhood Block Association told NewsChannel 2:
"The meeting is dedicated to what we call a political forum, similar to a debate, we invite some of the local candidates to speak to our neighborhood folks because there is a lot of neighborhood issues that people bring up during the year and this is a time to get a chance to ask the candidates questions before the general election."
This was the first year that Oneida County Executive candidates were invited, in addition to the West Utica candidates. However, current Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente was unable to attend.
