LEE, NY. – A Westernville man is accused of threatening a woman with a large tree branch, and hitting a 16-year-old with it when the teen tried to intervene.
New York State Police arrested 48-year-old Shane Carelli after the incident on Aug. 25, which happened around 9:45 a.m.
Police say the teen was slightly injured while trying to stop the altercation when it became physical between Carelli and the woman.
Carelli fled into the woods, and K-9 units were called to the scene to track him down. He was found, arrested and charged with menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, harassment and unlawful possession of marijuana. The possession charge is a felony due to a previous conviction.
Carelli was arraigned and remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility, and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Orders of protection were issued on behalf of the woman and the teen.
