WHITESBORO, N.Y. --- With Veteran's Day beginning tomorrow, communities from across the area are taking the time to honor those who serve and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country's freedom.
The parade began along Main Street and consisted of local first responders, elected officials and members of the legion.
Following the parade, a ceremony was held at the Whitestown American Legion.
This year's honoree was Oneida County Legislature and Veteran Bill Goodman. Congressman Anthony Brindisi presented him with an award honoring him for his service to the country as well as the county.
Vietnam Veteran Fred Griffiths said that veterans are the framework of this community and should be recognized.
"The veterans have made what we have right now and I think honoring them like this here is great. They deserve every bit of recognition they can get," said Griffiths.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held inside the Whitestown American Legion.
