GREIG, N.Y. – A Whitesboro man was arrested in Lewis County after allegedly punching a sheriff’s deputy in the face during an incident in the town of Greig.
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a drunk man causing a disturbance at a camp on Red Pine Point Road on July 24.
When deputies arrived, they say 27-year-old Gregory M. Zangrilli became combative, and punched a deputy who was trying to place him under arrest.
Zangrilli was eventually taken into custody and charged with assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned and remanded to Lewis County jail on a parole violation.
Both Zangrilli and the injured officer were evaluated at Lewis County General Hospital after the incident.
