COLUMBIA, N.Y. – A Whitesboro man is facing several charges after New York State Police found a gun, along with cocaine and marijuana, during a traffic stop in the town of Columbia.
Justin P. Murray was pulled over on Elizabethtown Road on Feb. 18, where troopers say they found a loaded semi-automatic untraceable firearm, also referred to as a ‘ghost gun,’ in the vehicle, as well as ammunition. After searching further, troopers say they found two pounds of marijuana, an unspecified quantity of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Murray is facing the following charges:
- Second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies
- Second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony
- Criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor
- Three counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor
Murray was arraigned virtually and remanded to the Herkimer County jail on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.
He will appear in Town of Columbia Court at a later date to answer the charges.
