MARCY, N.Y. - Whitesboro softball all-star Olivia Simone has committed to play at Cazenovia College following what would have been a five-year career on the Warriors varsity team.
Simone spent four seasons as a starter for the Warriors, this spring would have been her fifth had it not been cancelled due to the coronavirus campaign.
Though her primary position is catcher, she's spent time at multiple positions in her high school career, beginning as a center fielder, playing shortstop and even filling-in as a pitcher when needed.
"Sweet swinging Simone" was one of Whitesboro's top hitters, finishing her career with a batting average upwards of .400, and leading the team in doubles, home runs and average the past two seasons. In her junior year, Olivia lead the Tri-Valley League with a .530 average for the season.
With Simone as one of the leaders, the Warriors made deep postseason runs to the Section III semifinals each of the four years, earning a spot in the Section III finals twice (2018 and 2019). She was a team captain for the past two seasons.
Simone is a two-time Mohawk Valley All-Star, three-time Tri-Valley League All-Star, and an All-State selection.
She will be studying Early Childhood Education at Cazenovia.
