GUILFORD, N.Y. (UPDATED) – A woman was killed in a two-car crash in the town of Guilford in Chenango County Monday afternoon.
Members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office were called to County Road 36 near the intersection of County Road 37 around 12:20 p.m. on Monday.
Sheriff Ernest Cutting says 22-year-old Dominique D. Brissett of Wallkill in Orange County, was driving her Subaru sedan north on County Road 36 when she collided with a 2017 Nissan SUV traveling in the opposite direction, driven by 23-year-old Rachel A. Feyh of Sidney.
When deputies arrived to the scene they could see two vehicles were involved and the Subaru was on fire. Other drivers had stopped to help remove Brissett from the vehicle before it became consumed by flames.
Cutting says Brissett was pronounced dead at the scene and Feyh was airlifted to Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, where she remains in critical condition.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
