The YWCA of the Mohawk Valley’s annual ‘Take Back the Night’ event will be held virtually this year, to continue to spread awareness about sexual assault.
Usually, community members come together for the event and walk together through the area before gathering to share stories and offer support.
This year, survivors and supporters are encouraged to participate in ‘1 in 3: Take a Walk with Me’ throughout the month of April. Then on April 21, a virtual rally will be held to replace the traditional march.
“It underscores the belief we are stronger together and that when we share what we're going through and reach out for help, help is there. That's what the YWCA is here for - to help those survivors move through these experiences,” said Kari Procopio, of the YWCA.
