UTICA, N.Y. -- The Yorkville man who stabbed his brother to death last July was sentenced Monday in Oneida County Court.
John Ferguson was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He was sentenced Monday to a minimum of 20 years in state prison for his manslaughter conviction, and 2 to 6 years for his weapons conviction.
Ferguson, 38, was found guilty in the stabbing death of his 41-year-old brother, Daryl, in their mother's Yorkville home last July.
Last month, Ferguson’s attorney Luke Nebush filed a motion to set aside the guilty verdict, and Judge Dwyer denied that motion.
Assistant District Attorney Todd Carville says this has been a tough case for the entire family.
