westmoreland...due to a house fire. and.. two weeks... six breaks.--ilion updated information on several water main breaks. good evening at 11 oh- clock.. i'm don shipman. people living in ilion have been through it all. in a matter of one week... three major water mains that put the village in a state of emergency.. and boil water advisory. --even the governor came to town. tonight-- we learn of three more breaks. newschannel 2's caitlin irla is following this story. --caitlin... these new breaks are nothing compared to the first three. thats right don, the mayor says the most recent breaks were not much of a problem comped to wha have been dealing with. he says the break on west st. that happened yesterday was a result of a bad repair from before. there was also a fire hydrant on otsego street that was leaking and the third break was on weisbecker hill. the mayor says all water main breaks are fixed as of now. but ilion still remains in a state of emergency. the mayor says the water levels in the clear well are not where they should be, and the system is unstable due to these breaks. because of all the smaller issues and waiting for everything to stabalize, the sta of emergency isn't expected to be lifted until march 7th. the next step for the mayor is to work with the state and federal ficials to gure out funding. "we do have a couple meetingscs from albany to discuss the issues that we're having, in hopes that we'll soon get an answer as far as any kind of funding." we're told the water is safe to drink, and the village is not under a boil water advisory. and the village is no longer giving out boiled water. but they mayor
