serve rome.....and all of central new york. its all abou robotics at ny po today! they're having their first rotics competition this weekend. news channel 2's brent kearney brent kearney joins us live from the wildcat fieldhouse. brent. good evening callihan, this is just so much fun. their are thousands of kids here from all over country and even a team competing from turkey. each of the teams had just 6 weeks to build their robots completely from scratch. the challenges and the arenis different each year. this yr's challengis for e robots to get as many of the orange balls in the nets as possible. to add to the challenge, each team had to operate their robots blind for a certain period of time, simulating a sand storm on mars. but orgainizers say that today's competition means muchmore for . "its a real wod engineering expt weneed to build st schools andsm studen in ordero bring our 20th century work force to our community. becae we have a real tech based community here where they are looking for these students to become to employees of the future. things are starting to wind downor e day. the grand prize is a trip to the world championships in detroit which any of the teams here would enjoy, live at
